Whilst learning to draw and paint at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy, Nick discovered his love of sculpting. It was working with Jason Arkles and Raffa Romanelli that Nick learnt to sculpt portraits and figures. He also worked for Raffa at his studio making casts. After 3 years, he decided to return to the South West of England to set up his own plaster casting studio in the UK.

The Nicholas H Wood studio is now is based in Wiltshire, in a former High Street bank, which has been transformed into a artists's studio, cast workshop and gallery.
